The NEET-UG exam, a colossal undertaking conducted by the National Testing Agency on May 5 across 4,750 centers in 571 cities nationwide and 14 cities abroad, saw 23 lakh candidates participate. After the results were announced on June 4, which revealed an unusual 67 candidates scoring a perfect 720 out of 720, concerns and protests arose nationwide. These protests, which were largely peaceful, highlighted the public’s dissatisfaction with the alleged irregularities in the exam.
In response to these issues, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) launched a criminal case on June 23 to investigate alleged irregularities in the NTA’s conduct of NEET-UG and UGC-NET exams. Special teams have been formed to investigate the matter thoroughly.
