Amit Mishra’s Furious Revelations: Inside the IPL 2024 Controversy and Cricketing Bonds

The 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) season erupted in controversy when Sanjeev Goenka, owner of the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), was caught on camera in a fiery exchange with skipper KL Rahul after their humiliating loss to Sunrisers Hyderabad. SRH chased down 166 runs in 9.4 overs, handing LSG a crushing 10-wicket defeat. The aftermath saw Goenka confront Rahul, sparking intense speculation and debate among fans and pundits alike.

Speaking on YouTuber Shubhankar Mishra’s show ‘Unplugged,’ LSG spinner Amit Mishra provided candid insights into the incident, shedding light on previously undisclosed details. “He (Goenka) was visibly upset. We had suffered two consecutive heavy losses. Against KKR, we were beaten by a massive margin, and then SRH finished us off within 10 overs. It felt like they were having a practice session against us. If I’m so frustrated, imagine how someone invested in the team must feel,” Mishra shared.

While downplaying the severity of the confrontation, Mishra acknowledged Goenka’s disappointment with the team’s performance. “He expressed his displeasure about our bowling and the lack of fight shown by the team. It seemed like we had surrendered completely. However, I think the media blew it out of proportion,” Mishra added regarding the Rahul-Goenka clash.

Amidst speculations that KL Rahul might not be retained for IPL 2025, Mishra hinted at a potential change in captaincy for LSG. “It’s not about whether he’s in the Indian team. The captain should have the right mentality for T20s and play selflessly for the team. I’m sure LSG will be looking for a more suitable captain,” Mishra concluded on Rahul’s future with the team.

Switching gears, Mishra delved into his relationships with two of India’s cricketing icons, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Describing a warm, enduring bond with Sharma since their early cricketing days, Mishra highlighted Sharma’s consistency in demeanor and their continued camaraderie despite his meteoric rise in the cricketing world.

In contrast, Mishra revealed a more distant relationship with Virat Kohli, attributing it to Kohli’s evolving stature and responsibilities as captain. “Our communication has decreased over time. With fame and leadership, his approach to relationships within the team seems to have changed,” Mishra noted. Reflecting on their past camaraderie, Mishra lamented the noticeable transformation in Kohli’s persona post-captaincy and fame.

Overall, Mishra’s revelations fueled the already blazing controversies surrounding LSG and shed light on the intricate dynamics within India’s cricketing circles.
