Who Really Got the Samosa in Himachal’s Politics
In today’s world, if you forget to offer a samosa to a ‘respected person,’ they might file an FIR against you. Yes, you read that right—a full-blown police investigation could unfold over something as simple as a samosa and a cold drink! The police might even drag you to the station for questioning in what could very well be the most high-profile samosa case of the year. And while you’re there, don’t be surprised if the officers, who have no other pressing matters to attend to, dedicate all their efforts to solving this gourmet crime.
The police have become the nation’s culinary detectives, working hours to investigate samosa-related grievances. Meanwhile, the real work to help the public has taken a backseat. The reason? Our Chief Minister is more focused on samosas than serving the people. If there’s one thing he’s committed to these days, it’s ensuring that samosas are adequately served and, if not, ensuring that the police are investigating this ‘urgent’ matter.”
Here’s the story: On October 21, Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu visited the CID Headquarters to inaugurate a new Cyber Wing Station. As part of the event, samosas and cake were ordered to be served. However, a mix-up with the snacks has spiralled into a full-blown investigation. It turns out that while the samosas and cake were meant for the CM, they were first handed out to his staff before they could reach him.
The investigation revealed that only a sub-inspector (SI) knew these goodies were reserved for the CM. She didn’t double-check with senior officers when they were passed on to a lady inspector. She distributed the snacks to the CM’s staff and the Mechanical Transport (MT) section for breakfast.

The result? A full-blown mess! The snacks were diverted and served to everyone except the CM. The situation has now led to an inquiry by a DSP (Deputy Superintendent of Police) rank officer. According to the CID’s findings, the sub-inspector was the only one who knew the boxes contained special refreshments for the Chief Minister. However, the lady inspector, without clearance, passed them along to the MT section.
The inquiry report even called this act “anti-government,” condemning it as a disrespectful move against the VVIPs’ presence. According to the report, some of the officers seemed to act on their agenda rather than following protocol.
It seems the system is crashing under the weight of these “crucial” cases. Next, they’ll create a particular unit to investigate missing chutneys!
