Union Minister Anurag Thakur on Monday labeled Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal as the “biggest liar in the country” and accused him of deceiving the people of the national capital and Punjab. Thakur, seeking a fifth term in the Lok Sabha from the Hamirpur seat in Himachal Pradesh, urged people not to vote for Kejriwal’s party. He stated, “Today, the entire country has seen the true face of Arvind Kejriwal. These people are contesting only 22 seats and deceiving the nation with false promises and deception. Last time, they also made big promises but did not fulfill a single one.” Thakur further alleged that many Delhi government ministers are currently in jail on serious corruption charges and claimed that the people of Delhi seek stability and development, not representatives who face legal troubles.

Kejriwal’s primary aim, according to Thakur, is to seize power to conceal his misdeeds. Still, he expressed confidence that the people know Kejriwal’s tactics and will reject his party in all seven Lok Sabha constituencies in Delhi. Thakur asserted, “Kejriwal is the biggest liar in this country. Kejriwal can say anything about anyone. He has deceived the people of Delhi and Punjab with his lies.” Thakur dismissed any notion of anti-incumbency against the BJP and claimed that Kejriwal was spreading rumors after being released from jail.

Regarding the alleged assault on Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal at Kejriwal’s residence, Thakur criticized the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), stating that it has transformed from the “Arvind Advertisements Party” to the “Arvind Assault Party.” He questioned the safety of women if a Rajya Sabha MP was not secure at the chief minister’s residence and pondered whether the assault was orchestrated by Kejriwal or someone else. Thakur speculated about potential tension within the AAP leadership, mainly when Kejriwal is due to return to jail on June 2 as directed by the Supreme Court.

Earlier on Monday, Maliwal alleged that a member of Kejriwal’s staff assaulted her at the chief minister’s official residence, though no formal complaint has been lodged with the police yet. June 1 marks the final day of the seven-phase elections, with vote counting scheduled for June 4.
