Arvind Kejriwal Faces CBI Arrest Ahead of Supreme Court Bail Hearing
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is entangled in a web of severe legal complications. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is poised to present him before a trial court on Wednesday, a move that could potentially result in his arrest by the central agency. This development unfolded just before the Supreme Court was scheduled to hear
Kejriwal’s appeal challenged a Delhi High Court decision that put a halt to his earlier bail.
On Monday, the CBI took the step of questioning Kejriwal in Tihar Jail regarding a case related to the liquor policy and recorded his statement. This was followed by the CBI seeking a production warrant for Kejriwal from a special court on Tuesday, a request that was subsequently granted. These actions have set the stage for a potential arrest of Kejriwal by the CBI.
Kejriwal, who is already in judicial custody in connection with an Enforcement Directorate case, now faces the looming threat of a formal arrest by the CBI before a court. This potential arrest could have significant ramifications, potentially impeding his release from Tihar Jail, even if the Supreme Court were to overturn the Delhi High Court’s decision to pause his bail.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has vehemently criticized these developments, alleging that the CBI is conspiring to fabricate charges against Kejriwal. AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh accused the central government of orchestrating these actions despite the likelihood of Kejriwal securing bail from the Supreme Court.
In response to the legal proceedings, the Delhi High Court has expressed concerns over the trial court’s recent findings, emphasizing the need for proper evaluation of evidence and arguments in Kejriwal’s case.
