BCCI Announces Squads for 2024-25 Duleep Trophy Without any Big Players

The BCCI men’s selection committee has unveiled the squads for the first round of the 2024-25 Duleep Trophy, signaling the start of red-ball cricket in India’s domestic season. The tournament, which features some of the best players from the international circuit and emerging young talents, is set to begin on September 5, 2024. Matches will be held in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, and at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

Despite earlier reports suggesting that senior players might be included, big names like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, and Ravichandran Ashwin are not part of the squads. Rinku Singh is also missing from the line-up.

Shubman Gill, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Shreyas Iyer will captain the teams. Several top Indian players will participate in the first round of matches, including Riyan Parag, KL Rahul, Kuldeep Yadav, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sarfaraz Khan, Rishabh Pant, Mohammed Siraj, Suryakumar Yadav, Devdutt Padikkal, Ishan Kishan, Axar Patel, and Arshdeep Singh.

Players selected for India’s home Test series against Bangladesh will be replaced in the Duleep Trophy squads.
