MG Windsor EV: Redefining Electric Mobility in India
MG has officially introduced its highly anticipated Windsor EV in India, with prices starting at an enticing ₹9.99 lakh (ex-showroom). This marks MG’s third electric vehicle (EV) offering, following the ZS EV and Comet EV. Still, the Windsor EV brings something new with the company’s innovative Battery as a Service (BaaS) program. This program allows buyers to purchase the vehicle at a lower upfront cost and opt for a battery rental at ₹3.5 lakh, significantly reducing initial expenses.
Booking and Delivery Details
Customers can book the MG Windsor EV starting October 3, 2024, with deliveries set to commence on October 12, 2024. This launch is particularly notable as MG’s first major release since JSW acquired a partial stake in its Indian operations.
Design and Dimensions
The Windsor EV, essentially a rebranded version of the Wuling Cloud EV available in some international markets, comes with updates tailored for the Indian market. Measuring 4,295 mm in length, it’s slightly shorter than the ZS EV but stands out with a taller and broader profile—1,677 mm in height and 1,850 mm in width. Its 2,700 mm wheelbase ensures spacious rear seating, setting it apart from competitors. The vehicle features stylish 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, modern LED DRLs, headlight units, a front-charging inlet, and LED tail lights. Flush-fitting door handles enhance its sleek, contemporary look.
Comfort and Technology
Inside, the Windsor EV emphasizes both comfort and luxury. The rear seats recline to 135 degrees, featuring plush cushioning for more comfort. The cabin includes a panoramic sunroof, an air purification system, and ambient lighting, creating a premium experience. Technological highlights include an 8.8-inch driver display, a 15.6-inch infotainment screen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and Level 2 ADAS. It also boasts a 360-degree camera, a 9-speaker sound system, a PM2.5 air purification filter, and six airbags. The spacious 600-litre boot and over 80 connected features add to its appeal.

Performance and Range
Under the hood, the Windsor EV is powered by a 134 bhp electric motor with 200 Nm of torque and a 38 kWh LFP battery pack. It offers a claimed range of 331 km on a single charge, making it a strong competitor against other popular EVs like the Tata Nexon EV, Curvy EV, and Mahindra XUV400.
Overall, the MG Windsor EV combines a compelling price point with a suite of features designed to appeal to the modern Indian driver, making it a notable addition to the growing electric vehicle market.
