Rahul Gandhi Lists Government Failures: NEET Scam, Kashmir Attacks, and More

On Monday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi outlined ten critical issues that have plagued the first 15 days of the Modi 3.0 government. These concerns ranged from the NEET-UG 2024 question paper leak to fatalities caused by a severe heatwave in North India. This period coincided with the inaugural session of the 18th Lok Sabha following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s return for a third consecutive term.

Rahul Gandhi highlighted a tragic train accident, terrorist activities in Kashmir, and the plight of train passengers. He also pointed out scandals such as the NEET scam, the cancellation of NEET PG, and leaks in UGC NET exams. Additionally, he addressed the rising prices of essentials like milk, pulses, and gas, environmental crises such as forest fires and water shortages, and deaths due to inadequate arrangements during the heatwave.

In a tweet, Rahul Gandhi reaffirmed the Opposition’s commitment to holding the government accountable and championing the people’s voice. He vowed to maintain pressure on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, emphasizing the need for accountability.

Earlier in the day, Rahul Gandhi, along with other opposition leaders, including Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, staged protests at Parliament premises. They held copies of the Constitution and denounced what they perceived as attacks on constitutional values by Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.

In response, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing the media ahead of the Parliament session, indirectly criticized the Congress for the Emergency imposed in 1975. He described it as a stain on India’s democracy, highlighting the suppression of constitutional principles and freedoms during that period.

The exchanges underscored the sharp political divisions and the ongoing confrontations between the ruling party and the opposition in India’s political landscape.
