Udaipur School Stabbing Sparks Citywide Unrest: Cars Torched and Tensions Flare
A 15-year-old student was stabbed in a government school in Udaipur today, igniting widespread unrest across the city. The attack, which happened during a lunch break, involved a knife and left the victim with a severe thigh injury. The incident, driven by a clash between students from different communities, has escalated tensions throughout Rajasthan.
Following the stabbing, chaos erupted as nearly half a dozen cars were set on fire, and reports of stone-throwing surfaced from various parts of the city. The scene’s visitors show a large crowd gathered outside the hospital where the injured student receives treatment.
In response to the violence, a heavy police presence has been deployed. Officers have used lathi-charges to disperse the angry crowds, and prohibitory orders have been enforced to prevent further disturbances.
District Collector Arvind Poswal has called for calm, urging residents to ignore rumors and verify information with the authorities. “A minor student was injured and is now stable after being rushed to the hospital. I urge everyone to stay calm and not be swayed by rumors. Verify any information with the police,” Poswal said.
