The fifth phase of the Lok Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh is underway, with voters turning out in large numbers to cast their ballots in 14 crucial seats. As of 5 p.m., the voter turnout, a key indicator of public participation, was recorded at a significant 55.80%, marking a notable increase from the 47.55% turnout reported at 3 p.m.

- Voters in this phase are deciding the political fate of several prominent leaders, including four Union ministers: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Women and Child Development Minister Smriti Irani, Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Kaushal Kishor, and Minister of State for Consumer Affairs Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti. These leaders are from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, from the Indian National Congress, is also contesting from RaeBareli, a seat previously held by his mother, former Congress President Sonia Gandhi.

This phase sees 144 candidates vying for the support of over 2.68 crore voters. The BJP has fielded 11 incumbent Lok Sabha MPs and nominated new candidates in the Barabanki (SC) and Kaisarganj constituencies. Within the ‘INDIA bloc ‘, a coalition of political parties, the Congress has nominated K L Sharma from Amethi, Tanuj Punia from Barabanki (SC), and Pradeep Jain ‘Aditya’ from Jhansi. At the same time, the Samajwadi Party (SP) has fielded candidates in the remaining seats.
