PM Awas Yojana 2.0- All You Need To Know

The Indian government has launched the second phase of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban 2.0 (PMAY-U 2.0), which aims to provide housing for 1 crore urban poor and middle-class families, including economically disadvantaged groups (EWS). The Union Cabinet approved this phase on August 9, 2024.

Under PMAY-U 2.0, the government plans to build one lakh new homes over the next five years (starting September 1, 2024), with each house receiving a financial subsidy of Rs 2.50 lakh.

PMAY-U 2.0 is one of the government’s key initiatives to provide permanent homes for eligible urban families. Depending on their location, beneficiaries can avail themselves of housing benefits under PMAY-G or PMAY-U 2.0.

The scheme promotes inclusive urban development by addressing the housing needs of various underserved communities, including slum dwellers, SC/STs, minorities, widows, persons with disabilities, women, and other disadvantaged groups.
