A juvenile court in Pune on Wednesday revoked the bail granted to a 17-year-old boy involved in a car crash that killed two IT professionals on May 19. The court remanded him to an Observation Home until June 5, while his father was sent to police custody until May 24. The tragic accident claimed the lives of Aneesh Awadhiya and Ashwini Costa, both 24, who were returning from an impromptu dinner with friends when a speeding luxury vehicle(Porsche car), allegedly driven by the minor under the influence of alcohol, hit them.
The minor, the son of a prominent real estate developer, had been granted bail hours after the incident on the condition that he would work with the Yerwada traffic police for 15 days and write an essay on road accidents. These bail conditions sparked widespread criticism, prompting the Pune Police to announce their intention to appeal the order in a higher court. The police then approached the Board again, seeking a review of the decision and permission to treat the teenager as an adult, arguing that the crime was heinous.
